frozen ephemera

The exceptionally beautiful tableware pictured below is made by Sydney ceramicist Hayden Youlley.

In Youlley's own words The Paper Series is a study in 'lightness, translucency, mimicry and texture'. Hand-casting each piece in porcelain, Youlley displays imagination combined with impressive technical skill - and why not? Dude learned his craft at Sydney's College of Fine Arts.

Now, I don't want to toot my own horn, but as someone who once drunkenly stole a Hayden Youlley cup from the artist himself, I feel uniquely positioned to promote these lovely objects.

The Cup has a quality that makes the owner (ahem...) want to keep grasping long after its contents have been consumed.

You can read more about Hayden and his work here.
