They got pig iron.

So Pedestrian informs me that the new In-N-Out Burger joint in Paddington is in fact just japes from the Ksubi boys. The building will actually house the new Ksubi flagship store. Well, the joke's on them, because I wasn't even that excited about In-N-Out. Now excuse me while I go weep into my pillow for several hours.

Nevermind, I'll just comfort myself with this burger ring. It's actually quite awesome - the bun, meat and cheese etc. are all separate pieces.

rat-a-tat-tat

I'm still trawling through the archives for the old thesis, and just stumbled across this absolute gem of a snippet from one of Maggie Alderson's articles:

Some encouraging news for fashion followers becoming increasingly downhearted by what they have seen so far, is that exciting new label Tsubi the four Manly surf dudes who distress jeans, and probably their parents too are now having their own show. Originally scheduled to show with six other first-timers, organisers decided they needed more room for their wild ideas. Many are hoping they won't involve rats, as used in their current installation at The Corner Store.

If you pay any attention to Australian fashion, you probably know what went down at the Tsubi show. If not, here's a clue:

Light Riders

Omygawd, I can't wait for Tron Legacy. I watched the original for the first time in 2003 after reading that The Strokes' video for '12:51' was inspired by the movie.

Julian Casablancas was right, of course, the movie is total eye candy.
I wonder if it influenced Ksubi's (then Tsubi, I think) 2005 collection, From here to infinity:

Fantasia taught me about music.

(photo stolen from neon signs of happiness)

Remember this Ksubi sweater? I loved it. I love it.

But look what I found in a 1964 Sydney Morning Herald:

Maybe I like it more! Probs not though, as it looks like the composers' names on the Ksubi one are knitted in. Gotta give respect where it's due.

it sounds exactly the same

At first Ksubi's official website seemed like the single most annoying cyber-hole ever created - it's flooded with unhelpfully titled links, which are often duplicated throughout the site. Before long, however, I found myself in a sort of clicking-trance and indeed nearly all of the actual content is pretty phenomenal.

The second photo is deliciously Prada to me.

And there's a nice little section of piss takes:

Mondo

You know what I think is really cool right now? Planet Earth. Not in an environmental kind of way, but more like a United Nations aesthetic, if you know what I mean.
LOOK AT THESE FABULOUS NECKLACES.
They're by Kali Arulpragasam (MIA's sister) for her label Super Fertile.

And on second thoughts, environmental chic isn't all bad. Here is Ksubi's sad earth t-shirt:
- though I think I would have preferred it if there was a speech bubble coming out of the Earth's mouth saying 'Don't tread on me'. If you know that pop culture reference, you deserve a biscuit.

It's just jenga.

I'm not sure how appropriate this t-shirt was for playing a game of jenga (it's a little distracting to say the least).
... is it Jeremy Scott? I don't know. Here's another:
EDIT: sarahjane, whose blog Fashion Polaroid is full of luscious sartorial yum yums, tells me that the sex-tee is actually Ksubi. Oy vey, I should have known.
