Someone lovely drew my attention to this photo by Toni Frissell from the December 1947 issue of Harper's Bazaar. It reminded me immediately of a Prada campaign which, unfortunately, I can't date:
I used to have a live version of the Hole song 'Malibu'. It began with Courtney Love saying something like 'This is a song about water, so DRINK IT. Every vegetable in all the world needs water...'
And water seemed to be the central motif for their album Celebrity Skin - the 1895 painting Ophelia by Paul Steck used for the back art:
This record is dedicated to all the stolen water of Los Angeles
and anyone who ever drowned.
