RTA, killing my life.

I recently incurred a fine for accidentaly driving through Sydney's Cross City Tunnel (it came out of nowhere!) without having my car fitted out (souped up, if you will) with one of those little e-tag dashboard robot men. Whatever.
So I paid the fine on the RTA website and requested a receipt for said payment. Here's what I got - d'ya reckon it would look good on a t-shirt?
Probably not, but I'd be interested in seeing it printed on a lycra full-bodysuit.

Insert sole/soul pun here.

I've dabbled in some sole-painting in my time but to be honest it worked neither on an aesthetic nor function level - the rainbow fish were not as picturesque as I hoped they'd be, and the paint never dried. Nevertheless I was chuffed to find someone has found more success in the same endeavor:
Taylor Reeve hand paints these mamas herself and while her aesthetic isn't necessarily to my taste, the idea is pretty rad.

Not from Taylor but the tantalisingly named Etsy store, Hippy of Doom, comes a variation on the idea:

Imagine this.

I've never seen Lily Cole look so lovely. Here's hoping the film is as good as its promo material.

I do believe in spooks.

Things are a little pooey for Ralph Lauren at the mo but let's not forget the good times:

The men remind me of the Cowardly Lion. I love them.

something nasty in the woodshed

Australian country sheds are usually the domain of poisonous spiders and rusty saws, so you can imagine my surprise and delight when on a recent trip to the Hunter Valley, I found a Pirelli Calendar in one:

It's the 1998 edition, shot by Bruce Weber.
I'm still at a loss as to how this helps them sell tires though.

Is it Ears?

Sadly, thanks to The Man, these two little souls are no more.

Nice one, Sydney Uni.

Oral fixations are the best kind.

I know, Vice. I know.

bit me good

All the vampire madness that is currently circulating has reminded me of something important:
Moschino, I love you.

Love like an egg.

Perhaps Jean Paul Gaultier is looking to impress courtside regular Anna Wintour, or maybe he just has a thing for white shoes. Whatever the case, his latest collection for Hermes is full of some serious tennis love. Personally I'm not totally sold on the collection, I think the looks that work best are the more generically preppy ones.
Nevertheless Gaultier has succeeded in rekindling my love for these ridiculous Dries Van Noten shoes:

If you're digging the Hermes' vibe more than I am, think about going vintage a la this Vintage Petals dress:

Tulle Chainsaw Massacre.

Viktor & Rolf's latest show has to be one of the most beautiful and tactilely inviting I have ever seen. The use of a sheer fabric like tulle to create the incredibly dense shapes seen here is totally the kind of innovation one would expect from the V & R boys.
Fingers and toes crossed that we see Tilda Swinton rocking out one of these bad boys on the red carpet soon.

Yes, we have no...

Gotta get me a close up of this Moschino Cheap & Chic necklace.
You know what this shit is.

Never Never Land.

With my beloved old handbag having seen better days (things, important things, keep slipping through holes in the lining, Carrie-necklace style) I decided that now truly was the moment to become an adult. I would buy a sensible, functional, leather tote, in which I could store a diary and multiple pens, all in their assigned compartments.
Then, next thing I knew, I had paid for this little slice of heaven:
Thanks, Planet Claire Vintage, I guess I'll be Peter Pan-ing it a little while longer.

Here are some of the other contenders (click on the photos to get to their sellers):

Campaign Chic.

Hmm, I didn't notice until pretty late in the day that all these first ladies are sporting belts with tailored coats. Noice.
But they'll have to try harder if they wanna out-chic my campaign-trail garb:

Who are you? Where did you come from?

I downloaded this image whilst in a state of extreme sleep deprivation and now can't remember where I got it from. It would look pretty good on a t-shirt, I reckon.

Edit 01/09/2011: Well here's the source

Plasticism fantasticism.

Piet Mondrian. Utter bliss.
The extremely talented Sophie Hopmeier pimped the laptop (and I'm told the lego keys do in fact work.)

Moccasin, moccasout.

I've never been one for the moccasin trend but these Charles Jourdans from Etsy make me want to twist and shout.

And it's rare thing to find something Native American-inspired that doesn't look like it came from a souvenir shop.

cha ching

If I had the money to buy fashion magazines, I would probably know where to get a Breton-striped top like this one worn by Audrey Tatou in Coco avant Chanel.

But if I had the money to by fashion magazines, I would want to be spending it on nice things, like Breton-striped tops, not fashion magazines. Lucky I don't have any money, I guess.

More like Project FUNway.

Watching what was the first really good episode of the second season of Australian Project Runway, I was impressed with what several of the designers presented the Spring Carnival.
Here are Mark and William's creations, respectively:

These photos aren't particularly good (boo on you, Foxtel) and I recommend you try and find the episode online.
What with all the buzz about racewear, I got a bit nostalgic for the outfit I made for the Wool Awards a few years back:

Don't ask me why the model is dancing.
I was a bit obsessed with the Windsor Set and the 1930s in general at the time and (quite rightly) didn't win. Though I'll be a bit of a sook and say I didn't like the winning outfit, I adored the runner up:

Who's the fairest of them all?

Everyone's favourite vegan, Stella McCartney, has dabbled with Disney in her latest campaign.

Personally I find the ads to be conceptually a bit screwy louie and ugly to boot.
And anywayz, Louis Vuitton did a better job of fairytale-whimsy a few years back:
